Frequently Asked Questions

What if my obtained marks exceed total?

Obtained marks cannot exceed the total marks — the calculator will show an error. This often happens when bonus marks are included; add them to total marks or use separate entries for extra credit.

How accurate is the Multi-Subject average?

Very accurate. The tool uses the aggregate method: Σ(all obtained) ÷ Σ(all max marks) × 100. This is more precise than averaging individual percentages, especially when subjects have different maximum marks.

Can I calculate percentage for 5 or 6 subjects?

What is the difference between Mode 2 and Mode 1?

What Is a Percentage Calculator?

Marks to Percentage Formula

The universal formula is: (Obtained Marks ÷ Total Marks) × 100 = Percentage. For example, if you scored 453 out of 600 marks: (453 ÷ 600) × 100 = 75.5%.

Why the Aggregate Method Is More Accurate

When calculating average percentage across subjects, simply averaging individual percentages can give skewed results when subjects have different maximum marks.
